There are approximately 650 muscles in the human body.  We have included as many as possible but there are not a total of 650 muscles listed here since many muscles occur twice on the human body.  Each muscle will be be pictured and also have descriptions including: origin, insertion, innervation, blood supply, structure, function and more.  Muscles are grouped by region.

Definitions

Muscle - name of the muscle
Origin (Proximal Attachment) - attachment point that does NOT move when contracting- usually a bone.
Insertion (Distal Attachment) - attachment point that does move during contraction- usually a bone.
Innervation - describes nerve distribution to the specific muscle
Blood Supply - describes arterial structures that supply muscle
